Practicum & Internship
We have a limited number of placements available for students who meet the program requirements.
The psychoanalytic approach.
Our treatment approach focuses primarily on the psychoanalytic approach to therapy. Our core belief is that to effectively treat a person’s issues, we must address the root causes of their symptoms. This specialized approach is highly effective, yet requires a dedicated commitment to training. Eligible candidates will also embrace this philosophy, and will be available in-person at the clinic.
Supervision.
Clinical Supervision is handled by our Clinic Director. Students will be provided with weekly individual supervision, based on requirements, and weekly group supervision with team peers. In line with our commitment to development, students are not charged a fee for clinical supervision. Candidates should expect to present cases & receive clinical critique.
Commitment.
Training & development is core to the success of our team members, and that starts with our students. We are looking for people to join our team who have a desire to grow with us. That said, our psychoanalytic training is rigorous. It demands a solid commitment on your part to be totally available for individual & group supervision, team meetings & direct clinical shifts. The training materials provided are quite comprehensive in nature, and you’ll be expected to complete the required texts, videos & documents that are assigned to you.
This training program is not for everyone. It’s intense.
The successful candidate will take on this challenge knowing full well the demanding commitment that it will require.
The training.
Our approach to therapy is different. So is our approach to training. A major tenant of our vision is that we commit to providing our team with the resources they need to continually develop. We are extremely proud of our therapist training program. It’s highly structured & very comprehensive. The training materials you will have access to are high quality and extensive and will include our 50+ page therapist manual, a library of clinical training videos & resources and even presentations on non-clinical topics such as branding & marketing, customer service & leadership. We truly believe in providing our team with the best tools because we know how important they are to the success & growth of The Mind People. In turn, we’re able to provide the very best in mental health to many more people. Candidates should be those who are prepared to engage in a rigorous & highly structured training program.
